Mystery Video: January 2014

This month’s Mystery Video comes from the Texas Archive of the Moving Image’s collection of Universal Newsreels. The title card reads “Midget Troupe Gets Short End as Circus Closes,” and we have the following description from the original content sheet: Rain ‘washes out' a midget circus, stranding the little people a long way from home. Some of them find odd jobs in town when the sheriff sells their show, working in taverns or wiping windshields at service stations. Can you help fill in the gaps of this story? Which circus troupe were these men a part of? Which years did the troupe tour? What San Antonio flood wiped them out? Did they get back on their feet and back to circus work? Do you recognize any people or the places they are working?
