This overview of the annual Texas Rose Festival, also known as the Tyler Rose Festival, provides glimpses into the elaborate pageantry and the industry that it celebrates. Highlights include coronation of the Rose Queen, the parade, and a behind the scenes look at float construction. The rose industry began in Tyler near the turn of the century and, currently, approximately one-fifth of the nation's commercial rose bushes are produced in Smith County. The Tyler Rose Museum is the home for Tyler's unique rose history, with videos and photographs chronicling the area's agricultural history and Rose Festival memorabilia and hand-sewn costumes dating back to 1935.
