This home movie from 1960 captures the Blount family’s road trip to Arizona and California. The film begins in Arizona’s Petrified Forest National Park, where the Blounts visit the Painted Desert and Blue Mesa Trail. The family also observes the nearby Meteor Crater in Winslow, Arizona. Next, the Blount family ventures to the Grand Canyon, where they take in the scenic view and feed wild chipmunks. Then, the Blounts arrive in California, where they marvel at the heights of General Sherman and General Grant in Sequoia National Park and watch seal and orca shows at Marineland of the Pacific. The family ends their vacation in Disneyland, where they tour the stores on Main Street, USA, ride the Monorail and Skyway through Tomorrowland and Fantasyland, and take a spin on the King Arthur Carrousel.
