The patch of sun reveals one of the most distinctive elements of the stadium: its partial roof. Texas Stadium was originally supposed to have the NFL’s first retractable roof, but the structure could not support the additional weight, so it settled on becoming the only NFL stadium with a partial roof instead. Opening in 1971, Texas Stadium remained the home of the Dallas Cowboys for 38 seasons. The team moved to AT&T Stadium in 2009, after which Texas Stadium was demolished.

This 1970s home movie captures a Moreno family trip to the Dallas area. After a visit to the Six Flags Over Texas amusement park in Arlington, the family heads over to Texas Stadium for a Dallas Cowboys football game. After a goal-line standoff in the first half, the crowded stadium enjoys a special effects-laden halftime performance. The game likely comes from the 1977 season, during which the Cowboys went 15-2 and won their second Super Bowl Championship.
