This home movie from 1976 was shot by longtime Texas surfer Dan Parker and features Skip Rhudy as he catches waves near Port Aransas.
Dan Parker began surfing in Port Aransas, Texas at the age of 12 and continued throughout his life. As an adult, his journalism career took him to both the East and West coasts where he was able to continue surfing. In 2010, Parker and his surfer wife, Michelle Christenson, wrote and published Surfing Corpus Christi and Port Aransas, a book that tells the little-known history of surfing in Texas. The couple collected photos and stories from Coastal Bend surfers dating back to the 1960s. The couple now lives in Corpus Christi and curates the Texas Surf Museum together.
