In this home movie from the early 1960s, the Sessions family visits Peppermint Park, an amusement park in Houston. The children enjoy several of the park’s main attractions, including a Merry Go Round, an automobile track, and a helicopter-themed ride called the Whirleybird. Operating from the 1960s through the early 1990s at varying locations, Peppermint Park was open year-round and decorated for the current season. (The Sessions no doubt visited during the winter, as the kids stop by a gingerbread house.) Catering to small children, the park specialized in birthday parties. After Peppermint Park, the Sessions family travels to Alamogordo, New Mexico for a trip to the White Sands National Monument.
