This home video captures scenes from a Texas-area Special Olympics competition in 1998. Donor and camerawoman Mary Ann Culp attended the event in support of her grandson, Justin, who was one of several athletes from the Killeen Independent School District. The footage begins at the opening ceremony, which captures a children’s choir performance and the lighting of the flame. Later, Justin competes in the 50-meter dash. He wins the silver medal. The Special Olympics provides year-round training and competitions for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
