In this unedited interview for Austin’s KVUE-TV, Roy Faires sits down with director Brian De Palma to talk about his latest film, The Untouchables (1987), starring Kevin Costner, Sean Connery, and Robert De Niro. The film received four Academy Award nominations, with Connery ultimately taking home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. In the interview, De Palma discusses the challenges of adapting a story from television to film. He also describes the filming of an iconic scene from the movie. Faires worked as a special project director and entertainment critic/reporter at KVUE-TV, Austin’s ABC affiliate, from 1976-1989.
