This 1940s home movie captures children competing in a variety of field day events in Smithville. After group stretching, the boys and girls separate for a series of relay events. In one race, the girls push prams in a circle while the boys keep time. The children don colonial costumes for the ribbon ceremony, with the girls dressed in frilly frocks and the boys in overalls and tricorn hats. Later, daughter Carol practices her graduation walk.
