  •  A golf tournament likely played at Galveston’s Municipal Golf Course. Built in 1898, the course was the first of its kind in the state.

  •  Fort Crockett, established in the late 1890s to secure Galveston Bay and the Ports of Houston and Galveston. During the 1920s, Fort Crockett housed the United States Army Air Corps’ 3rd Attack Group. The facility now hosts the Bureau of Commercial Fisheries Laboratory and the Institute of Oceanography.
