  •  Collins: A man stresses the importance of a free press.  
  •  Galveston Granted Ship 
  •  Gearhart & Goldwater: A small crowd welcomes Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona to Houston. KHOU reporter Nick Gearhart asks the politician about growing support for a possible presidential bid and the recent Cuban Missile Crisis. Goldwater did not officially announce his intention to run for president until January 1964.  
  •  Weldon (Possible AFL-CIO SAG-Rep): Interview with Texas State Representative J. D. Weldon. At the time, Weldon was also a candidate for the president of the Texas AFL-CIO, a state federation of labor unions. He served in the Texas House of Representatives from 1962 to 1971. 
  •  Medina: A KHOU reporter asks an attorney about the right against self-incrimination and attempts to change or repeal it.  
  •  C. Courts Bankers: Meeting of the Harris County Commissioners Court relating to the county fund depository.  
  •  C Court on Jail Dockets: Harris County Judge William Elliott leads a meeting of the Harris County Commissioners Court about the handling of prisoners.  
  •  Council-Mayor Silent: Houston Mayor Lewis Cutrer leads a meeting of the Houston City Council. 
  •  Galv Boat Explosion: The remains of a destroyed boat in Galveston.

This film from KHOU-TV Channel 11 in Houston contains a series of short news segments that would have aired as highlights to news stories. Many are silent and would have been voiced over by the anchorperson during a live broadcast. The titles for each segment are the originals created by KHOU-TV. The clips on this reel all date from April 1963. This series includes interviews with Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona and Texas State Representative J. D. Weldon, as well as footage of meetings of the Harris County Commissioners Court and Houston City Council.
The digital preservation of this collection was made possible by a grant to the Texas Archive of the Moving Image and the Houston Public Library from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.
