This educational film focuses on the stories of ten people who lived in Beaumont and near the Spindletop oil field during the beginning of the Texas Oil Boom. Some of those featured, such as the Hamill Brothers and Caroline Fitzgerald Lucas, had a direct role in placing Texas on the map for future industry. Others, like G.B. “Buttermilk” Thomas and Alice Slauson, entered the scene after the first Lucas Gusher and observed the nature of daily living in an exponentially growing boomtown. The film explores how each individual came to find themselves in Beaumont, and how the discovery of oil indirectly or directly influenced their life.
