This home movie captures the Parish family—mom Linda, dad Ron, and child Jeff—enjoying the rides at the 1976 South Texas State Fair in Beaumont. After riding the carousel and Ferris wheel with his mother, Jeff tackles a different ride solo. Also included is footage of Ron cleaning some of the many fish he caught. Begun in 1907 as the Beaumont Fair, the South Texas State Fair is an annual regional state fair featuring a livestock show, commercial exhibition, and carnival Midway. Boasting an attendance of more than 500,000 people, the event is only second in statewide popularity to the State Fair of Texas in Dallas.
