This short government film, produced by Dale Bounds of the National Forests in Texas, offers a glimpse into the history and features of the Lyndon B. Johnson and Caddo Grasslands. Born out of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal, the natural site has become a multiple-purpose destination. The park houses oil and gas drilling, cattle ranching, and watershed management. Most importantly, however, it offers outdoor recreational activity, “where a person can wander free.”
