This 1980s television segment profiles Elmer Seybold, proprietor of the Seybold Guest Ranch near Mineral Wells. Seybold opened the ranch in 1946, operating it until his death in 1996. In the segment, Seybold talks about his work as a rancher and shows off his skills as a blacksmith and gunsmith. A former sharpshooter for a Wild West show, he also demonstrates his continued prowess in exhibition shooting. The story originally aired as a Texas Tale on WFAA-TV, but was picked up by ABC’s Good Morning America as part of its weeklong Good Morning Americana series.
