Bucking Bronco event, the most popular in the rodeo
Footage of bucking bronco shown in reverse
Transcript
The Houston Astrodome was built for baseball, of course, but now they are steering the crowds to sports of a different color - Bull and Bronc riding, for
example.
This is the 34th Annual Houston Rodeo, where the road to riches is a rocky one.
The rider wants to hang on until the whistle, the bull wants no one horning in on his comfort.
If This appears to be a tough way to make a living, don't feel too sorry for the riders. A good man on a galloping beefsteak can earn upwards of $25,000 a
year. That, you can be sure, buys a lot of liniment.
Through the years, the bucking broncs remain the most popular feature on the rodeo circuit. It's a down to earth event.
And that's the way it happens in Texas when you let the cameraman loose with his bag of tricks. It only goes to prove that what goes down, must come up,
sometimes.

In this 1966 newsreel footage, bucking bulls and broncos meet cowboys once again in the 34th Annual Houston Rodeo, and as usual, the animals have the better time of it. 1966 marked the first Houston Rodeo to be held at the Astrodome, with 40,000 spectators in attendance for one show, almost five times the capacity of the previous venue.
