After being frightened by a nightmare, Jot is comforted by his mother who teaches him to trust God and not be afraid. Created by Ruth Byers and Ted Perry for the Southern Baptists Radio and Television Commission, JOT was the Baptists' answer to the Lutheran-produced, "Davey and Goliath." The animated series first aired on Dallas network WFAA-TV's Sunday children's program "Peppermint Place," and was later picked up by "The Children's Hour" on WBAP-TV (now KXAS-TV) in Fort Worth. The show was eventually translated into 19 languages and syndicated world-wide. Using a mod styling that at times gets downright psychedelic, each four and one-half minute episode teaches young children bible verses and moral lessons. A total of 30 episodes were released between 1965 - 1981. For a brief time in 2009, Jot reappeared as the official mascot of FamilyNet Television, but in late 2009 his image was removed from the network's website.
