Texas Film Round-Up Collects Films for Free Digitization Program at Abilene's Paramount Film Series

ABILENE, Texas (April 9, 2013) – The Texas Film Round-Up, a free film and video digitization program presented by the Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) and the Office of the Governor’s Texas Film Commission (TFC), comes to Abilene’s Paramount Film Series on May 10th and 11th.  Abilenians can drop off their films between 6 pm and 8 pm on Friday and 1 pm and 8 pm on Saturday to receive free digital copies and the opportunity to contribute to the award-winning state history project.  The Paramount will screen the Texas film classic Bonnie and Clyde, preceded by vintage films of Abilene curated from the TAMI collection and several local archives. The feature presentations will begin on Friday at 7:30 pm and Saturday at 2 pm and 7:30 pm. 

Winner of the 2010 American Association of State and Local History’s Leadership in History Award of Merit and WOW Award, the Texas Film Round-Up offers free film and video digitization service to anyone with Texas-related film or video who is able to contribute an electronic copy of their materials to TexasArchive.org  The program welcomes home movies, industrial films, educational films, advertisements, local television, feature films and more. Film and video donations will be returned to contributors after digitization— along with two free DVD copies or digital files of the materials.

The Paramount Film Series, now in its 26th season, is a year-long program of classic, arthouse, and modern blockbuster films.  The films are screened one weekend per month.  Admission for the Bonnie and Clyde screening is $6 for adults and $5 for students, senior citizens (age 60+), military personnel, and children.
