A Texas state government agency since 1981, the Governor's Committee on Aging was established to provide a range of services that enabled senior Texans to live "healthy, dignified, and independent lives." Currently known as the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services, the agency continues to offer a variety of services including Adult Foster Care, Day Activity and Health Services, Home Delivered Meals, Caregiver Support Services and more. Produced in conjunction with the Committee on Aging, Portraits of Aging profiles several active seniors and their special interests and hobbies, emphasizing their ongoing quality of life.
