Texas Eagle-Last Train, December 6, 1968 - Silent footage of a train and Union Station in Houston, Texas. The Missouri-Pacific ran the Texas Eagle Train
from St. Louis to Laredo, Houston, and El Paso. It discontinued services to Houston in the late 1960s.
Moon on Breakfast, December 6, 1968 - An unidentified man announces plans to provide free breakfast to children at the Houston Independent School
District.
Union Station, December 6, 1968 - Silent footage of the interior and exterior of Union Station in Houston. Minute Maid Park, home to the Houston
Astros baseball team now occupies the site.
Appolo [sic] News Conference, December 7, 1968 - Apollo 8 astronauts Frank Borman, James A. Lovell, and William Anders discuss their upcoming mission to
leave earth orbit, orbit the moon, and return to earth. Apollo 8 launched on December 21, 1968 and successfully carried out the mission before returning to Earth on December 27. It was on
this mission that the crew the historic live Christmas Eve broadcast, concluding with reading from the Book of Genesis.
Plane Crash, Date: December 7, 1968 - Silent footage of emergency workers at a plane crash site. The six-passenger twin-engine plane was being flown by
Bernard Wolf of Tyler. He had just taken off from William P. Hobby Airport and crashed in a field north of the airport after radioing that he was experiencing engine trouble. Wolf
was killed in the crash; he was the only person on board.

Houston.

Harrelsen [sic], December 9, 1968 - An unidentified man discusses attorney Percy Foreman's decision to join Sam J. Lee in defending Charles V.
Harrelson, charged with the murder of Alan Berg, an executive at a Houston area carpet firm. Charles Harrelson was involved in a series of crimes and died in prison serving two life terms
for the murder of U.S. District Judge John H. Wood, Jr. He is actor Woody Harrelson's father. Do you recognize this man? Please let us know.

Many are silent and would have been voiced over by the anchorperson. The titles for each segment are the originals created by KHOU-TV. The clips on this reel all date from mid-December, 1968.
