A branch of Texas state government, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) was established in 1949 to oversee and administer the state's public school system. In its current organizational structure, the TEA provides career and technical programs dedicated to preparing students for entry-level employment in a variety of professional fields including information technology, business administration, and health care. The New American Schoolhouse explores the options offered by the TEA's Department of Occupational Education and Technology and provides a broadened perspective on learning outside the traditional classroom.
