Family members young and old sport an attractive array of clothing, hats, hairstyles and automobiles from the era. While some participants seem awkward and self-conscious in front of the camera, others ham it up, act silly, and enjoy themselves as they stroll together in front yards, gardens, parks and an American Legion gathering. Home movies occupy an enormous part of our Texas film heritage. Since the 1920s, popular formats like 16mm, 8mm, Super 8 and video have captured our private events and public moments and helped us channel our creative impulses as amateur filmmakers. But they do more than just document our lives: our home movies continually reveal what we consider to be valuable, significant and worth sharing with others.
