Established in 1973 to provide communication between runaways and their parents, "Operation Peace of Mind" was renamed the Runaway Hotline in 1979. Currently known as the Texas Runaway Hotline, the confidential 24 hour call line serves the state of Texas exclusively and provides runaways, potential runaways and their families with a variety of informational, counseling, and crisis intervention services. The Runaway Problem offers a heart-wrenching look at the challenging experiences of runaways and their families as well as the support services offered by the Texas-based Runaway Hotline in the early 1980s.
